Focus and Scope

In this period of state-sponsored austerity and suppression of resistance there is a great need for criminologists to speak out and act against state violence, state-corporate crime, and the growth of surveillance regimes and the prison-industrial complex. Criminologists also have a role to play in advancing alternatives to current regimes of regulation and punishment. In light of current social struggles against neo-liberal capitalism, and as an effort to contribute positively to those struggles, the Critical Criminology Working Group at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Vancouver has initiated this open access journal, Radical Criminology. We now welcome contributions.

Future issues might include:

Prison Abolition • Anti-colonialism • Resistance to
Borders & Securitization • Surveillance and the
Digital Panopticon • Anti-capitalism & Corporate
Crime • the Military-Industrial Complex

This is not simply a project of critique,
but is geared toward a praxis of struggle,
insurgence and practical resistance.

Peer Review Process

Authors are encouraged to submit articles for publication, directly to our website: http://journal.radicalcriminology.org

We are actively seeking marginalized voices, not only in the field of critical criminological scholarship, but also artists, activists, and reviewers. Or, send us a letter!

All academic articles are subject to a blind peer review process. (This does not include “insurgencies,” artwork, poetry and book reviews, which will be assessed by our editorial committee.)

We use the Public Knowledge Project's 'open journal' online submission system (http://pkp.sfu.ca/ojs), which allows authors to submit papers via the Web. This system speeds up the submission and review process, and allows you to view the status of your paper online.

Artwork, poetic submissions, and notes on insurgencies can also be posted to our website, e-mailed to <editors@radicalcriminology.org> or send us mail at: Radical Criminology,
